The San Francisco 49ers preseason slate rolls into its second week in a road matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
For the 49ers their health has become a greater concern than their preseason performance. They just need to make sure they have enough healthy bodies to keep their key starters out of harm’s way. More than 20 players missed their preseason opener vs. the Denver Broncos with injuries, and that number could rise Saturday when they face the Raiders.
Still, there are a handful of players to keep an eye on and some starting jobs up for grabs that make Saturday’s game a compelling one from the 49ers’ perspective.

Expect to see a bunch of players with very little shot of making the roster playing a ton of snaps. Even if San Francisco starts hot, the Raiders should be able to overcome the 49ers’ overall lack of depth. Raiders 27, 49ers 1749ers injury updates
Don’t expect impressive rookies Mykel Williams or Upton Stout on the field at Allegiant Stadium. Williams is nursing a knee issue that knocked him out of the preseason opener vs. the Denver Broncos. Stout also missed that game, and then missed practice in the week leading up to the matchup with the Raiders.
Who is starting for 49ers at quarterback?
Our guess is Brock Purdy gets the start for San Francisco. Head coach Kyle Shanahan intimated during the week that Purdy may see some action in the second preseason game.
“I’d like Brock to play, we’ll see how it goes,” Shanahan said after Thursday’s joint practice with the Raiders. “I haven’t decided anything for sure yet. We’ll watch this tape, I planned on getting these starters going. There might be a couple guys I rest, but there’s not a lot of, especially on the defense, healthy starters as it is. But I’ll figure that out here in the next 24 hours. But planning on some starters to play.”
