Falcons head coach praises team’s ‘competitive’ nature and provides injury updates on QB Emory Jones, LB Jalon Walker.

The Atlanta Falcons are now 0-2 in the 2025 NFL preseason following Friday night’s 23-20 loss to the Tennessee Titans. The team didn’t show much fight in the first half, scoring just three points, but the Falcons turned things around in the second half and nearly tied the game in the final seconds.

Running back Nate Carter and wide receiver Chris Blair sparked Atlanta’s 17-point third quarter, and quarterback Easton Stick played well down the stretch after an abysmal first half. All in all, the Falcons can’t be too upset with Friday night’s loss.

Head coach Raheem Morris praised the team’s competitiveness after the game and provided a few injury updates on quarterback Emory Jones and first-round pick Jalon Walker. Atlanta’s third-string QB took a big hit on a fourth-down rushing attempt, and Walker did not play at all.

“Really competitive day out there,” said Morris. “It was great to see those guys run around. Came out pretty much injury free, other than [Emory], which we got to check on. You know, he kind of got rung at the end of that big-time fourth-and-two at the end of the game, but other than that, felt pretty healthy. Felt pretty good.”

Morris gave a surprising update on Walker, who was held out on Friday night due to a groin injury.

“Jalon Walker, obviously, as you guys saw, we had a couple days of practice with those guys,” said Morris. “He kind of hurt himself a little, tweaked his groin a little bit on that last play that he was in on joint practices. So we held him tonight. Looking forward to getting him back out there next week.”

Regarding the team’s rookies, Morris felt they did some good things, especially Carter.

“He plays with a fierce running style. He’s hard to get down on the ground. He showed it a couple times tonight,” said Morris. “We’re very fired up to have him. He runs really tough. He’s a hard tackler, man, there’s no doubt about that.”
