Josh Hartle had a sparkling start and Michael Kennedy was in peril late but finished off a 3-2 Captains win over the visiting Chiefs on Aug. 16.

Hartle, in improving to 10-2 with a 2.35 earned-run average, tossed six shutout innings. He allowed one hit and three walks and struck out four.

Kennedy earned his first save, working the final three innings. He yielded two runs on five hits, walking one and striking out three.

Nick Mitchell tripled, walked and scored a run for Lake County (65-48), and Jose Devers went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Johnny Tincher had a single and two RBI.

The series concludes at 1 p.m. Aug. 17.
