It was a solid slate of games for former Oklahoma State football players in the second preseason week of the NFL.
This article, obviously, doesn’t have any of the results for the games to be played on Sunday. So, let’s get started with the best performance of the day from linebacker, Nick Martin.
In the 22-19 last-second win over the Las Vegas Raiders, Martin shined. He tied for the lead in tackles for the San Francisco 49ers with six total tackles, five of which were solo stops, including two tackles for loss and one sack.
He was virtually untouched up the middle on 3rd and 3 nearly halfway into the second quarter.
Martin and the Niners have one more preseason tune up game next week as they play host to the Los Angeles Chargers. Kick is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, August 23.
Brennan Presley is still trying to make the roster, or at the very least the practice squad of the Los Angeles Rams, and he made a massive argument tonight. Brennan went into the final seconds of the game leading the Rams in yards and receptions with five catches for 62 yards on seven targets. That was before he hauled in a 40-yard catch down to the Chargers’ eight-yard line with the Rams down 22-17. That set up an eight-yard touchdown pass from Stetson Benntt to Tru Edwards to take a 23-22 lead and the win.
I don’t think I’m being dramatic when I say Brennan’s going to be a part of the Rams organization this season.
The Rams wrap up preseason play next Saturday on the road against the Cleveland Browns at 12 CT on the NFL Network.
Running back Ollie Gordon II continues to make waves in Miami as he goes for the running back two spot on the depth chart. He led the Dolphins in rushing in the 24-17 win over the Detroit Lions with 10 carries for 50 yards, including this punishing run.
The Dolphins will play host to the Jacksonville Jaguars next Saturday at 6 p.m. CT on the NFL Network.
Mason Rudolph, Devin Harper and the Pittsburgh Steelers hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tonight, with Mason taking just a few snaps early on in the game. He went 3-of-5 for 46 yards and one touchdown and one interception. As for Harper, he finished with one touchdown in the 17-14 loss.
The Steelers hit the road next week to face Chuba Hubbard and the Carolina Panthers for a 6 p.m. CT game on Thursday on the NFL Network.
Chrisitan Holmes recorded one pass break up in the 22-13 Browns’ win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
