A juvenile suspect in a Washington shooting is accused of making threats toward members of the local high school football team, causing the Washington School District to temporarily move practice.
Washington County District Attorney Jason Walsh confirmed the juvenile male is wanted in connection to a July 29 shooting at 47 Shannon Ave. Walsh did not identify the individual, as he is charged as a juvenile.
According to Walsh, the juvenile had made threats toward members of the Washington High School football team. The specific nature of the threats was not immediately clear.
George Lammay, the district’s recently retired superintendent, said practice was moved to an undisclosed location for two days last week as a precaution.
“We need to make sure kids were secure until we could get a handle on the best way to manage it,” Lammay said.
According to Lammay, regular practice has resumed with Washington police and additional security on site.
The juvenile accused of making threats is wanted in connection with the shooting of Rashard Carter.
Tristan Lassic, 16, of Washington, was arrested in Pittsburgh earlier this month following a standoff with a SWAT team. Lassic is charged as an adult, and is accused of shooting Carter in the back three times.
The shooting occurred at about 1:30 a.m. July 29 at Lassic’s Shannon Avenue home. Lassic fled the scene after cutting off his ankle monitor.
Police found Carter injured at the intersection of East Hallam Avenue and Ridge Avenue. He was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital for treatment.
Lassic has a preliminary hearing on felony charges of attempted homicide and aggravated assault scheduled for 2:45 p.m. Aug. 20. He is being held in the Washington County jail without bond.
