The Denver Broncos are placing backup offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo on season-ending injured reserve, the team announced on Sunday.

Gargiulo (6-5, 310 pounds) was carted off the field in the third quarter of Saturday’s 27-7 preseason win over the Arizona Cardinals. Gargiulo was quickly ruled out with a knee injury, and his 2025 season is now over. Because he is going on IR before the 53-man roster is set, Gargiulo will be ineligible to return this season.

Denver picked Gargiulo in the seventh round of last year’s NFL draft out of South Carolina. He was competing to win a backup swing guard/center role this summer before suffering the knee injury. To fill Gargiulo’s former spot on the 91-man offseason roster, the Broncos are signing fullback Adam Prentice.

Denver needed to add more depth at fullback after losing Michael Burton (hamstring) and Nate Adkins (ankle) to injuries. Elsewhere on the injury front, rookie cornerback Joshua Pickett has a wrist/thumb injury, and outside linebacker Garret Wallow left Saturday’s game with an ankle injury.
