DALLAS — Cowboys Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer said a couple of weeks ago that he’s going to go into the pre-season playing with only a 7 iron, not wanting to tip his hand with plays and schemes before the start of the regular season. So maybe not a huge shocker that the cowboys are now 0-2 in the fake games.
And now they have an injury they’ll have to deal with. ESPN reports wide receiver Jonathan Mingo suffered an injury to the PCL in his right knee. He was set to have an MRI Monday to determine the severity, but at the minimum, he’s looking at multiple weeks on the shelf.
Mingo caught a 49-yard pass in Saturday’s 31-13 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens but came off the field on the next play on his own accord. He also played on special teams.
Mingo is the receiver the cowboys traded for last year with the Panthers. He showed potential during training camp, positioning himself as a No. 4 or No. 5 wide receiver and contributing on special teams.
Last season Mingo played eight games, catching five passes for 46 yards.
