The US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 preseason rankings have now been out for at least a week, giving sports media time to digest these initial opinions and respond with their own hot takes.

Among those who have taken on the task of reranking the full lineup of 136 Football Bowl Subdivision schools is The Athletic’s Chris Vannini, who placed the Florida Gators at No. 15 — consistent with the Associated Press’ results. That puts Billy Napier and Co. between the No. 14 Michigan Wolverines and No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels.

“The DJ Lagway momentum must continue, but let’s hope those preseason camp injuries aren’t serious,” Vannini offers.

That Athletic’s rerank stands in stark contrast to that of USA TODAY Sports writer Paul Myerberg, who has the Orange and Blue just barely cracking the top 25 at No. 25 overall — eight spots below their Coaches Poll ranking and 10 spots below the AP Poll.
