Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Zach Orr continues to deploy dynamic personnel groups and designs to tally in sacks. In Saturday’s 31-13 preseason victory over the Dallas Cowboys, the Ravens totaled four sacks, including a vicious safety that led to the 2-0 lead early in the first quarter.
The sky is literally the limit for the Baltimore Ravens defense when Orr is calling the plays. It’s worth noting that Orr has been disguising and confusing opposing offensive lines with double A-gap pre-play alignment and several shell coverages. Orr has all the personnel that he needs with the Ravens starters on defense, which fans have yet to see. Even with the reserves in the game, Orr’s system seems to work, and his unit allowed only seven first downs through 47 total plays in week 2 of the NFL preseason.

Considering this, Orr’s defense did not even allow the opposing offense to score a touchdown. The only touchdown that came in the game was a result of quarterback Cooper Rush throwing the football to the other team. As the season progresses, it’ll be interesting to see just how resilient the Ravens’ defense remains. Orr’s desire for perfection has been well detected over the first two weeks of preseason.
