In the first two preseason games of the year, the Pittsburgh Steelers rested more than a dozen starters. With only three preseason games, we weren’t sure what direction the Steelers would go this week against the Carolina Panthers. But in something of a surprise, head coach Mike Tomlin has decided to play nearly every healthy body on the team with four exceptions.

Tomlin said on Tuesday that every healthy player will play Saturday except for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, wide receiver DK Metcalf, defensive tackle Cam Heyward and edge defender T.J. Watt. This will mean the Steelers won’t see any of those four players for a single snap in the preseason.

Several top Steelers who haven’t played in the preseason have been limited by injury, so we don’t look for the full rundown of players who were held out of the first two games to automatically be on the field. We are looking forward to the debut of running back Jaylen Warren and tight end Pat Freiermuth on offense, as well as edge rusher Alex Highsmith and cornerback Jalen Ramsey on defense.
