The man that the Miami Dolphins’ defense will be trying to pummel in Week One has been announced originally appeared on A to Z Sports.

The Miami Dolphins’ coaching staff has a lot on their minds right now as they try to decide which players to keep and let go as they work towards putting together a 53-man roster next week.

However, some news came down on Tuesday that will provide them with the opportunity to start game planning in the meantime for their Week One opponent in the regular season – the Indianapolis Colts.

The Colts named Daniel Jones over Anthony Richardson as their starting quarterback.

The move is on that will potentially be good news for Dolphins players to the extent they won’t be tasked with chasing down the incredibly athletic Richardson. While Jones is plenty athletic and can run well himself, there’s no doubt that the physical tools and athleticism favor Richardson.

The Dolphins have faced Jones in recent years, and they fared well. Jones started for the Giants back in October 2023, which the Dolphins won 31-16. Jones had a forgettable day, going 14/20 passing for just 119 yards. Miami knocked Jones out of the game in the fourth quarter on a sack by Andrew Van Ginkel. The Dolphins harassed and beat up Jones all afternoon, sacking him six times in the contest.

We’ll find out soon enough if Miami can get their season off on the right foot – and get some revenge for a 16-10 loss to Indianapolis last year – soon enough, as the Dolphins and Colts will get their seasons underway on September 7 at 1:00 pm at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
