Now that training camp has basically shifted to game week practice mode, and the Baltimore Ravens have one final week left of preseason football before their season opener on Sunday, September 7th, let’s predict the Ravens initial 53-man roster. I took a stab at this before training camp opened, but now we see a better path to projecting that first roster of the 2025 season. We will officially find out next Tuesday, August 26th when NFL rosters must go from 90 players to 53. The following day, practice squads are formed. 16 or 17 players (international roster spot) will be added via p-squads.

One thing we do know, this initial 53-man roster will be ever changing due to injuries and the Ravens looking to add talent.

Important note, injuries are already happening. The Ravens lost both drafted rookie cornerbacks for the season in Bilhal Kone and Robert Longerbeam due to knee injuries. Safety Ar’Darius Washington (achilles) is on the active/physically unable to perform list. Rookie tackle Emery Jones (shoulder) is on the non-football injury list. Outside linebacker Adisa Isaac won’t be on the active roster due to elbow surgery required on ligament damage after a dislocated elbow in Saturday’s preseason win at Dallas. He could return midseason. And finally, while no roster move has been made for tight end Isaiah Likely, it is unlikely he’ll be ready to go week one at Buffalo after a broken bone in his foot early in training camp. Likely should be back early in the season though at some point in September.

With that being said, here is my final Ravens 53-man roster projection:

QB (2): Lamar Jackson and Cooper Rush

RB (4): Derrick Henry, Justice Hill, Keaton Mitchell and Rasheen Ali. *Ali has played well this camp and preseason forcing the hand for the Ravens to keep four running backs. All running backs other than Henry provide special teams value.

WR (6): Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, DeAndre Hopkins, Tylan Wallace, Tez Walker and LaJohntay Wester. *Wester has won the battle to be the Ravens punt returner. Dayton Wade and Keith Kirkwood have made plays this preseason, but landing a job on this roster at wide receiver was always going to be tough. Both could be practice squad options.

TE: (2) Mark Andrews and Charlie Kolar. *Keep in mind Likely’s health during roster cuts and if he has an injury designation. This number will quickly be 3 if he’s on the active 53-man roster.

FB: (1) Pat Ricard

OL: (9) Ronnie Stanley, Andrew Vorhees, Tyler Linderbaum, Daniel Faalele, Roger Rosengarten, Ben Cleveland, Joseph Noteboom, Carson Vinson, and Corey Bullock. *I could easily see this number up to 10, with the addition of drafted rookie Garrett Dellinger. The Ravens value offensive line depth and developing talent. Stashing these types of players away on the practice squad might not always work since they can be signed to any other team’s active roster. Bullock beating out Nick Samac at backup center was a move we didn’t expect at the start of summer, but preseason reps prove otherwise now.

DL: (5) Nnamdi Madubuike, Travis Jones, John Jenkins, Broderick Washington and Aeneas Peebles. *I can’t see the Ravens keeping six defensive lineman. Veteran Brent Urban could have a practice squad handshake already in the works and C.J. Okoye could be an international roster spot keep. He has earned it.

OLB: (5) Kyle Van Noy, Odafe Oweh, Tavius Robinson, David Ojabo and Mike Green. *The injury to Adisa Isaac helps David Ojabo win a job. Mike Green has also looked like the real deal, so the Ravens may stay with what they’ve got and not shop for a veteran.

ILB: (4) Roquan Smith, Trenton Simpson, Jake Hummel and Teddye Buchanan. *Undrafted free agents Jay Higgins and Chandler Martin have put on a showing, probably more so Higgins, but I don’t think this is where the Ravens keep their streak of undrafted rookie free agents making the team going.

CB: (7) Marlon Humphrey, Nate Wiggins, Jaire Alexander, Chidobe Awuzie, Jalyn Armour-Davis, T.J. Tampa and Keyon Martin. *Martin becomes a strong UDFA to make the team. Especially with how much the Ravens value corner depth and the injuries they’ve already had this camp and preseason. Alexander, while is not expected to miss any time, has missed multiple weeks of practice due to a linger knee issue following surgery last year while with Green Bay. Martin would however be my first to go if the Ravens keep 10 OL or Likely is active.

S: (5) Kyle Hamilton, Malaki Starks, Sanoussi Kane, Beau Brade and Reuben Lowery *Lowery is my top choice for rookie undrafted free agent to make the team. I would even put him above Brade if it came down to it.

Specialist: (3) Tyler Loop, Jordan Stout and Nick Moore
