How to watch the Dallas Cowboys’ 2025 preseason finale against Falcons: Exciting rookie teases long-awaited debut originally appeared on A to Z Sports.
The Dallas Cowboys haven’t had the preseason they wished for with first-time head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who has admitted he isn’t pleased with the football his team has played. On Friday, they get one more chance to do it well before the first-team gets ready to kick things off in Sept. 4.
This weekend’s appointment is one versus the Atlanta Falcons. But the rival matters little on this one. For Dallas, it’s about cleaning things up and improving individual performance.
Below is all the information you need to make sure you don’t miss the Cowboys’ final preseason game and what you should be in the lookout for.

What to look for: Rookie RB Jaydon Blue teases his Cowboys debut
Jaydon Blue teases his debut: Blue posted “See ya soon” alongside a winking emoji on his X account earlier this week. One of the most underwhelming aspects of the Cowboys’ preseason so far has been the fact that fans haven’t gotten to see the rookie running back on the field. Before a heel injury toward the end of training camp in Oxnard, California, Blue was turning heads and climbing the depth chart thanks to his explosiveness and knack for finding big plays. Friday could provide a glimpse of why he could have a big role on offense as a fifth-rounder.
Joe Milton’s last chance to secure QB2 job: Milton hasn’t looked the part of a gameday-ready backup quarterback through two preseason games. Still, Schottenheimer confirmed him as the starter for Friday’s matchup. Can he show enough to earn the QB2 gig over Will Grier or Mr. Outside Hire?
Can James Houston convince Dallas of carrying six edge rushers? The former fourth-round pick and UFL standout has done enough to convince the Cowboys he’s a good pass rusher. Schottenheimer discussed his value on special teams earlier in the week. But the team is deep at edge rusher so nothing is guaranteed.
Phil Mafah vs. Miles Sanders: At running back, three players appear to be locks. Javonte Williams, Blue, and fullback Hunter Luepke. The fourth spot could come down to the veteran Sanders or the seventh-round rookie Mafah. The latter has had the stronger preseason. Another strong game on Friday could boost his stock just enough.
Last WR spot(s): With Jonathan Mingo out multiple weeks heading into the regular season, the WR3 battle appears to be temporarily over, in favor of Jalen Tolbert. But what about Ryan Flournoy, Jalen Brooks, and undrafted rookie Traeshon Holden? I expect Flournoy to make the roster but this game could influence the coaches’ final decision.
