The Cincinnati Bengals recently played host to free agent guard Dalton Risner, but he has left the area unsigned. He is now headed to Seattle to visit with the Seahawks and is also considering a visit to the Steelers, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. That leaves Cincinnati with a major looming question mark at right guard.
The Bengals selected Dylan Fairchild out of Georgia in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and he is the team’s new starting left guard. He has been among the best linemen on the team so far this preseason.
Right guard is a whole different story. After releasing Alex Cappa, the Bengals turned to free agent journeyman Lucas Patrick, but he has struggled. He’s still listed as the starting right guard on the depth chart, but the team has openly been rotating others in with the starters to see if they can solidify the position.
Risner is a solid pass blocker, and could give Joe Burrow the best line he’s had throughout his career. Risner reportedly wants to make multiple visits to put himself in the best position possible. If he’s looking for a team that he can help go deep in the playoffs, the Bengals are likely the best option.
Hopefully, he ends up in Cincinnati. Jordan Schultz did say Risner had a “strong” visit with the Bengals, and the two sides plan to stay in contact.
