Bad news could be coming for Shedeur Sanders in the wake of the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback announcement on Monday.

The Browns are set to make veteran quarterback Joe Flacco their QB1 for 2025. Flacco, 40, spent the 2024 season with the Indianapolis Colts. The 17-year NFL veteran, who led the Ravens to a Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers in 2013, beat out three other quarterbacks to win the job: Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.
Sanders, a fifth round NFL Draft pick out of Colorado, has been a fan favorite during training camp and the preseason. The former Buffaloes quarterback, who starred for two seasons in Boulder, completed 14 of 23 passes for two touchdowns in his first preseason start. Many have been calling for Sanders to get the job.
However, it sounds like bad news could be coming.

One prominent NFL insider thinks the writing could be on the wall for Shedeur Sanders and his time in Cleveland.
NFL insider predicts Shedeur Sanders could be cut
The Browns will have Joe Flacco as their starting quarterback. It’s probably likely that Kenny Pickett will make the final roster, too. What does that mean for Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders?

Gabriel was a third round pick, while Sanders was a fifth round pick.
Longtime NFL insider Pete Prisco is predicting that Sanders could be cut as a result of the Browns going with Joe Flacco as the team’s starting quarterback.
“The rookie that they would probably get rid of would be the one they took in the 5th round,” he said.
NFL fans aren’t buying it, though
While one prominent NFL insider is suggesting that Shedeur Sanders will be cut, many fans aren’t really buying it.

“I would be WILDLY surprised if they cut Shedeur when Pickett is right there (having miss nearly all of the preseason) and I don’t think I’d be the only one,” one fan wrote.
“Browns would be dumb to get rid of Shedeur. Watch the Rams scoop him if they do,” one fan added.
“This guy has been wrong so many times it’s unfathomable,” one fan added.
“No chance,” one fan added.

The Browns still have one game remaining in the preseason and Shedeur Sanders is likely to get some playing time, proving his chance to make the roster.

Cleveland and Los Angeles are scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. E.T. on Saturday, August 23.
It could be Shedeur’s final chance to make an impact on the Cleveland Browns’ roster decision.
