During his press conference on Tuesday, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy revealed a coaching plan surrounding wide receiver Rashee Rice’s legal issues and potential suspension.

“One of the things that we tried to do as a staff was to prepare both ways for it, just not knowing. So we have a plan for if he is there and if he’s not there, and so it kind of made it easier. That’s not something we just did here recently, like we’ve thought it through,” said Nagy. “There is a little bit of juggling and training camp, not only just with that, but also his health, making sure that you balance both of those together. So Coach (Connor) Embree has done a great job of doing that, and I think we have a solid plan in place,”

According to a recent report, Rice is expected to have his disciplinary hearing with the NFL on Tuesday, September 30th, in New York City. This means that Rice is now likely to be able to play the first four weeks of this season before any potential discipline is imposed for his role in a multi-car crash in Dallas during the 2024 offseason.

Rice could be available for the regular season opener in Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers, Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles, Week 3 against the New York Giants, and Week 4 vs. the Baltimore Ravens.
