During his press conference on Tuesday, Kansas City Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo revealed interest in seeing more opportunities for defensive back Joshua Williams following recent injuries in the secondary.

“I’ll tell you what Josh (Williams) has played really, really well. We chart production and training camp pass, breakups, interceptions, force fumbles, and Josh was right up there with a group of them,” said Spagnuolo, “So to his credit, he has produced. He’s going to get an opportunity now with NJ (Nazeeh Johnson), which is kind of dinged up here, and we’ll see what transpires. But one thing, Josh always gives us speed and length out on the edge. He’s always giving us that.”

Williams, a former fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, is entering his fourth season with the Chiefs. The former Fayetteville State Bronco has played various roles in the secondary for Spagnuolo.

The Chiefs have been without Kristian Fulton due to a lingering injury. During last Friday’s preseason loss in Seattle, they also lost Nazeeh Johnson (shoulder) and rookie Nohl Williams (concussion).
