The Tennessee Titans have activated cornerback L’Jarius Sneed off the physically unable to perform list and Sneed will return to practice on Aug. 20, marking his first time on the field for the Titans since October 2024.

Sneed missed most of last season with a quad injury and underwent an offseason knee surgery as well. The cornerback, whom the Titans acquired in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs in March 2024, is among the highest-paid defensive backs in the NFL and will be a starter upon his return, per defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson. Sneed will return to practice in only a limited capacity on his first day back as he gets back into the swing of football activities.

If Sneed can return by Week 1, the Titans will add an important piece back to a cornerback room that has been severely lacking in depth throughout training camp. In addition to Sneed, the Titans’ cornerback room is comprised of Jarvis Brownlee Jr., Roger McCreary, Darrell Baker Jr., Marcus Harris, Gabe Jeudy-Lally and Amani Oruwariye, among others. McCreary, Brownlee and Baker have been the Titans’ primary starters throughout the preseason.

Sneed, 28, has dealt with off-the-field issues in the offseason as well, stemming from an alleged shooting incident in December in Texas. No disciplinary actions have been announced by the team or the league.

Dating back to December, Sneed has consistently assured reporters that he feels healthy and close to return. Most recently, he spoke to The Tennessean in July about his health and said he believed he was progressing well and would be able to return to practice soon.

The Titans have one more preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on Aug. 22 and a pair of practices in the week that follows before the first official game week of the season. The Titans open the 2025 season on Sept. 7 against the Denver Broncos in Denver.
