Once they set a 53-man roster next week, the Denver Broncos can begin building a practice squad after cut players clear waivers. The NFL has a 16-player limit for the practice squad, but there’s an exception for a potential designated international player taking a 17th spot.
Broncos punter Jeremy Crawshaw (an Australian) has received an offseason roster exemption as the team’s designated international player this summer, but he’s a lock to make the active roster. Denver doesn’t have an obvious international candidate for an extra 17th practice squad player, but the team might target an international player from another club after roster cuts.

So our practice squad prediction for the Broncos features 16 players. One player who is not on the list is fullback Michael Burton, who began last season on Denver’s practice squad. Burton is currently dealing with a hamstring injury and it’s uncertain how the team will handle his early-season roster status after adding fullback Adam Prentice.
Broncos projected practice squad
Denver will set a 53-man roster on Tuesday, Aug. 26. Then, after waiver claims go through on Wednesday, Aug. 27, clubs will begin building practice squads. We will track all of the team’s moves on Broncos Wire.
