Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor gives team updates on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025, ahead of Saturday’s Indianapolis Colts game.
Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor characterized his team’s overall outlook on the injury front as “I think we’re in good shape” coming out of the Aug. 18 preseason victory against the Washington Commanders.
During an Aug. 20 news conference at Paycor Stadium, Taylor broke down the club’s injury outlook, providing insight on several individual players ahead of the preseason finale against the Indianapolis Colts at 1 p.m. Aug. 23 at Paycor Stadium. With one exception, Taylor didn’t report any long-term injury concerns.

On Aug. 20, Taylor said the injury “wasn’t as severe as we initially thought during the game.” Patrick is one of several players Taylor classified as being managed ahead of the Colts game.Tight end Mike Gesicki (hamstring) “would be a guy that continues to be day-to-day right now. He’s in good shape,” Taylor said.Tight end Drew Sample will be day-to-day ahead of the Colts game, Taylor said.Defensive end Myles Murphy (knee) also fit into the day-to-day category, Taylor said.
“Again, these are guys who could play this week if we needed them to,” Taylor said. “A lot of guys right now that, nobody I really expect to extend into next week. So, I think we’re in good shape.”
One player not expected for the rest of the season, Taylor announced, is fourth-year guard Cordell Volson, who will undergo shoulder surgery.
