ASHBURN, Va. (7News) — The Washington Commanders returned to the practice field on Wednesday afternoon at team headquarters in Ashburn, Virginia.
Running back Brian Robinson Jr. was not on the field. The team excused him from practice.
The Robinson situation is an interesting one, to say the least. The team is trying to find a trade partner for the running back.
After practice, 7News spoke to several of the Commanders’ running backs about Robinson’s future with the team.
“B-Rob is definitely my dog, my guy on and off the football field,” rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt said. “He’s taught me a lot and that’s all I’m going to say about that.”
“We are focusing on ourselves,” Commanders running back Chris Rodriguez said. “The more energy that we focus into not knowing what’s going to happen, we’re really not being our best self.”
“You can’t always control the name on the front of the jersey, but you always represent the name on the back,” Commanders running back Austin Ekeler said. “Control what you can control.”
Washington wraps up their preseason schedule on Saturday, hosting the Baltimore Ravens. The opening kickoff is scheduled for noon.
