The Jacksonville Jaguars made a pair of roster moves at the wide receiver position on Wednesday. So what does the depth chart at this position group now look like?

The first move the team announced was waiving Josh Cephus with an injury designation. Cephus had showcased his playmaking abilities during training camp and seemed to be in the mix for a roster spot.

It was not reported what his injury is, but he did not practice on Wednesday.

The corresponding move to fill Cephus’ roster spot was the Jaguars‘ re-signing Darius Lassiter, who was released on Tuesday. A UDFA out of BYU, Lassiter had been with the Jaguars throughout offseason programs.

Who will round out the Jaguars’ wide receiver room on the 53-man roster?

We know at the top of the depth chart are Brian Thomas Jr., Travis Hunter, Dyami Brown, and Parker Washington. But at least one, if not two, roster spots on the 53-man are available.

It would seem that Trenton Irwin has a firm grasp on one of those spots. He’s produced this summer and has special teams experience in his career.

If the Jaguars are going to keep a sixth receiver, who that spot belongs to seems to be very much up in the air.

Beyond being able to make plays in the passing game, important elements when it comes to playing receiver in Liam Coen’s offense is being able to contribute in the run game as a blocker and move around the formation pre-snap. As a back-end roster player, this receiver will also have to help out on teams.

Eli Pancol garnered some attention early on in camp for doing the dirty work at receiver, but has seemed to taper off. Dorian Singer is third on the team in receiving yards this preseason–behind Irwin and Quintin Morris–while Chanler Brayboy leads the Jaguars’ receivers in special teams snaps.

Also of note, Austin Trammell has handled some return duties this preseason.

Or, again, if no one emerges, the Jaguars could roster just five receivers.
