During his press conference on Wednesday, Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Leo Chenal shared the defense’s energy level going into Friday’s preseason finale against the Chicago Bears.

“It’s doing our best we can to kind of replicate and in, like in season, kind of week, Because we’re going to be ready no matter what in season, especially so just making sure all guys are doing the routine we’re practicing the way we want to practice.” said Chenal, “So it’s, it’s nothing like to like out of the box, out of the ordinary, just making sure we’re all on the same page. We can’t think of it as a preseason game; we’ve got to think of it as a game. Whenever we step on the field, we’re going to compete.”

Chenal and the first-team defense struggled in their opening drive against the Seattle Seahawks last week, causing concern about the unit’s energy level.

“You know, we’re competitors. So, you feel like, naturally, you come, and I don’t feel like anybody’s feeling pressured to bring energy,” said Chenal, “All of us kind of bring that naturally. I feel like, as a team, we do a good job of it. If we feel things are getting low, like a lot of guys, a lot of leaders step up and get you know, kind of pull everybody along, like no, let’s wake up here and let’s be going.”

In three regular-season campaigns in Kansas City, Chenal has logged 32 starts and tallied 160 combined tackles, five sacks, four passes defensed, and three forced fumbles.
