After trading wide receiver Devaughn Vele (for a great return), are more trades on the way for the Denver Broncos?

One position to keep an eye on is running back. Denver has a surplus of backs with J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin, Tyler Badie, Blake Watson and Audric Estime. Broncos coach Sean Payton might opt to carry four RBs on the 53-man roster, but they reasonably can’t carry five.

Meanwhile, the list of teams in the market for a running back includes the New Orleans Saints, Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Chiefs, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini. Perhaps Denver general manager George Paton will be able to ship out an RB before roster cuts next week?

The Broncos also have a backlog of cornerbacks, so Damarri Mathis is a name to watch, and the team is deep on the defensive line and at safety. Denver might consider trading one of Jordan Jackson or Eyioma Uwazurike, and they could listen to offers for one of their safeties fighting for a spot on the active roster.

After closing out preseason on Aug. 23, the Broncos will have until Aug. 26 to set an initial 53-man roster. We will track all of Denver’s upcoming moves — cuts, waiver wire claims and potential trades — on Broncos Wire.
