Head coach Jim Harbaugh revealed the Chargers‘ plans at quarterback in the preseason finale against the 49ers this Saturday.

Los Angeles will be resting the starters, including Justin Herbert. Instead, Trey Lance will start and play 1-2 series. Following Lance, Taylor Heinicke will play 1-2 series. Undrafted rookie DJ Uiagalelei will then finish out the game.

Lance and Heinicke are competing for the backup quarterback role behind Herbert. Lance has impressed more out of the two this preseason, and depending on his performance, he could solidify the spot as the No. 2 on the depth chart.

“Just trying to build on it, build on what we’ve done these first three and come out with the win,” Lance said.
