The Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs will wrap up the preseason on Friday night in Kansas City, but it’s an experience the Bears may want to remember.

That’s because it isn’t the only time the Bears will play on a Friday this year, and it’s not the only time they will take on a team that played in last year’s Super Bowl either.

Still, Friday games are pretty rare for the Bears, and this year will mark one of the few times they’ve had to hit the gridiron on a night typically associated with high school football.

Here’s what you need to know about Friday’s game.

What time does Friday’s game start?

Kickoff is set for 7:20 p.m.

What channel will the game be on?

The game will air locally on Fox, and will air nationally on NFL Network.

Will the Bears be playing their starters?

According to Bears head coach Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams and many of the team’s starters will be on the field for the preseason finale against the Chiefs.

Williams played in the first two series for the Bears in their game against the Buffalo Bills, throwing for 107 yards and a 36-yard touchdown pass to Olamide Zaccheaus.

As for the Chiefs, they too are expected to play at least some of their starters, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

A few notes about Friday Bears games

Surprisingly, this won’t be the only time the Bears will play on a Friday this year.

On the day after Thanksgiving, the Bears will head to Philadelphia to take on the reigning Super Bowl champion Eagles, with kickoff set for 2 p.m. in the City of Brotherly Love. That game will air on Prime Video.

According to Sports Illustrated, the NFL has only played a handful of games on Fridays in its entire history, and part of the reason is a federal law called the Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961, which prohibits the league from airing games on Fridays and Saturdays from the second full week of September until the second full week of December.

The reason the league can air Black Friday games is because those games are scheduled to get over by the time primetime television begins at 6 p.m. Eastern, according to SI.

According to Pro Football Reference’s Stathead tool, this year will mark the fourth time the Bears have played a game on a Friday, and the first time in nearly 60 years. The last time they did so was on Sept. 16, 1966, when they lost to the Rams 31-17.
