When many people think of the New Orleans Saints winning the Super Bowl over the Indianapolis Colts, Tracy Porter’s interception comes to mind. Former Saints receiver Lance Moore also had an incredibly clutch moment on a controversial two-point conversion.

With just 16 days left until the 2025 NFL season, now is the time to look back at one of the biggest moments from someone in a No. 16 jersey for today’s Saints Play of the Day.

There was just 5:42 left on the clock when Jeremy Shockey caught a two-yard pass from Drew Brees to put the Saints up 22-17. That was a crucial moment, but it was still just a five-point game. New Orleans decided to go for two to make it a seven-point game and keep Indianapolis at bay, even if they did go down and score another touchdown.

Brees rolled out and then drilled the ball to Moore, who was right on the goal line. Moore had to reach out to grab the ball mid-air, moving his momentum outside of the endzone. The receiver maintained the focus to keep the ball past the goal line. It was originally called incomplete, but a review overturned it and gave the Saints their two points. On the next drive, Porter came through with his 74-yard pick-six to seal the game.

Moore spent eight seasons with New Orleans after signing as an undrafted free agent back in 2005. He finished his 10-year NFL career with 389 catches for 4,816 yards with 44 touchdowns. He became most known for his eccentric celebrations.
