It’s the Philadelphia Eagles‘ third preseason game. Normally, if someone is getting extended playing time in this one, he has a problem. Don’t tell Parry Nickerson that. Many have long written him off as a realistic candidate to make the 53-man roster, but he’s been totally professional, giving every snap everything he has.
With just under one minute remaining in the fourth quarter, he enjoyed his highlight-reel moment. Good for him. This one is a beauty.
With Darius Slay, Avonte Maddox, James Bradberry, and Isaiah Rodgers all departing this offseason, Nickerson is the veteran of the Eagles‘ cornerback group. Nickerson made his case for a roster spot or practice squad addition with a first-half interception.

Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Kelee Ringo, Mac McWilliams, and Adoree’ Jackson are among the guys who are expected to make the roster. It appears Nickerson may fall victim to the numbers game, but these preseason games are also an audition for other teams. Don’t give up on him yet. He may still land somewhere.
