A name that recently began to emerge in trade rumors, the Washington Commanders have traded former Alabama Crimson Tide running back Brian Robinson Jr. to the San Francisco 49ers, per a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

In return, Washington will reportedly receive a 2026 sixth round pick from San Francisco.

A former third round pick in the 2022 NFL draft, Robinson spent the first three seasons of his professional career with the Commanders, rushing for a combined 2,329 yards and 15 touchdowns across 41 games. Starting in 37 of those games, Robinson also hauled in 65 receptions for 587 yards and five scores.

Last season, Robinson rushed for a career-high 799 yards and eight touchdowns across 14 games for a Washington team that reached the NFC Championship Game.

Robinson now heads to San Francisco where he is likely set to serve as the backup running back with the 49ers to starter Christian McCaffrey. The lone other former Alabama player currently in San Francisco is quarterback Mac Jones.
