The Denver Broncos are set to face the New Orleans Saints in their preseason finale on Saturday evening. Here are five quick storylines we’ll be watching for in that showdown.

1. Jeremy Crawshaw’s consistency: Denver’s coaches have raved about the rookie punter’s powerful leg this summer, but they need him to be consistent. Crawshaw had two punts last week — his first went for 48 yards, but his second was much better at 61 yards. “[I]t’s just kind of getting into rhythm, getting in a groove, fixing the things we have to fix,” special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi said Wednesday. “Again, I’m happy where he’s at. Hopefully, he’ll get a couple more opportunities — not too many this week — and we can just keep going with the progression.”

2. Who stands out on special teams: As the Broncos prepare to make some tough roster cuts, special teams contributions will be a big deciding factor. Running backs, wide receivers, defensive backs, linebackers and linemen on the roster bubble can earn a spot on the team by making an impact on special teams. Will anybody stand out in the kicking game on Saturday?

3. Wide receivers competing for final spot: Following the Devaughn Vele trade, receivers like Courtney Jackson, Michael Bandy and A.T. Perry now have better odds to make the 53-man roster, but they’re still long shots. Jackson feels like the favorite for the WR6 position, but that could change on Saturday.

4. Denver’s running back rotation: J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey are safe. Tyler Badie seems to be safe. Jaleel McLaughlin is probably safe. That’s four. Are Blake Watson and Audric Estime about to get cut? If they are the last two RBs on the field on Saturday, the chances of Watson and Estime making the active roster will be slim.

5. Bo Nix and the first-team offense: Nix had a so-so performance in the team’s preseason opener, and then Nix and starters did not play in the second preseason game. Most starters will get 8-10 snaps on Saturday, and they’ll look to finish off the summer sharp with their final live-game reps before the regular season begins in September.

Following the preseason finale, Denver will have until Aug. 26 to set a 53-man roster. We will track all of the team’s upcoming moves on Broncos Wire.
