There have been many rushing to compare New England Patriots undrafted rookie Efton Chism III to Julian Edelman. However, the former legendary Patriots wide receiver believes a better comparison for Chism would be to Danny Amendola.
The Patriots have a long history of churning out talented slot receivers, and along with Demario Douglas, Chism looks like he might be the next in line to take that mantle. He’s a tremendous route runner with the quickness and technique to consistently separate from defenders.

“I think he reminds me more of Dola [Danny Amendola] than he does me,” Edelman said on Patriots Talk Podcast. “…His playing strength is really impressive that I’ve seen over the last few weeks. He’s had a hell of a camp. It’s gonna be an interesting decision on what to do with those guys.”
Amendola is a solid comparison as well.
The two-time Super Bowl champion proved to be one of Tom Brady’s most reliable receiving targets during his time in New England. He racked up 230 receptions for 2,383 yards and 12 touchdowns in five seasons with the Patriots.
Chism has a lot to prove before he can truly be in the same conversations as either Edelman or Amendola. However, a mere comparison this early in his career is incredibly high praise for the first-year NFL player.
