Quarterback isn’t the lone decision at hand; like all NFL teams, New Orleans must trim its roster from 90 to 53 on Tuesday. After roster cuts, teams are allowed to assemble practice squads.

“This is the most challenging week in the NFL,” Moore said. “We’ve invested so much time in all 90 of these guys, they’ve put everything into this. This is everyone’s hopes and dreams and aspirations, and we want that to happen to all of these guys.

“Naturally, you have to go from 90 to 53, bring 16 or 17 back on practice squad and we want to keep as many of these guys as we can in this organization, because we’re going to need all of these guys. As the season goes on you’re going to need a lot of guys to contribute. So there’s challenging discussions to be had but this is a group that we root for and we’re all in on.”

Rattler started six games last season as a rookie, giving him more game experience than any quarterback on the roster. But that hasn’t guaranteed him the top spot.

“That’s not my decision to make,” he said. “I just try put my best foot forward. I feel like as a group, we’ve done a lot of good things and are progressing in the right direction. Obviously, still a lot to work on as a group but I like the direction we’re headed. We trust in each other and I think that’s the biggest thing.”
