The Atlanta Falcons got an early start on their roster cuts, releasing 12 players on Saturday evening and placing offensive lineman Jake Hanson on the injured reserve list.
Veteran defensive lineman Morgan Fox was arguably the biggest surprise in the team’s first wave of roster cuts. Fox signed with the Falcons as a free agent over the offseason and had a $3 million guarantee in his contract.
Offensive lineman Matthew Cindric, edge Ronnie Perkins and running back Elijah Dotson were among the others released as the team prepares for Tuesday’s cut deadline (see full list below).

The Falcons still have to release another 24 players before Tuesday’s roster cut deadline. Plus, the Falcons are expected to place offensive lineman Kaleb McGary (knee) on the injured reserve list. Backup offensive tackle Storm Norton could also go on IR, if the reports of his six-week recovery timeline are true.
The team must trim its roster down from 77 to 53 players by Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. Check out the Falcons’ updated roster arranged by position group below.
