The Las Vegas Raiders finished last in the AFC West with just four wins in 2024, the first time since 2018. As a result, there were lots of changes ahead of 2025.
Out were head coach Antonio Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco. Las Vegas hired former Super Bowl-winning head coach Pete Carroll and brought in John Spytek as general manager. Carroll most recently coached the Seattle Seahawks from 2010 to 2023, and Spytek served as assistant general manager for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
They made a key change at quarterback and traded for Geno Smith, whom Carroll worked with for multiple years in Seattle. In return for a third-round draft pick, the Raiders get a veteran quarterback to lead the offense under new offensive coordinator Chip Kelly.
The team lost some starters in free agency, notably cornerback Nate Hobbs, safety Tre’von Moehrig and linebackers Robert Spillane and Divine Deablo. In turn, the team signed running back Raheem Mostert, safety Jeremy Chinn, cornerback Eric Stokes and linebackers Devin White and Elandon Roberts to help with those losses.
In the draft, Las Vegas used many of its early picks to help on offense. The Raiders took top running back Ashton Jeanty in the first round, wide receiver Jack Bech in Round 2 and offensive linemen Charles Grant and Caleb Rogers in Round 3. They also shored up the cornerback room with Darien Porter in Round 3.
The coaching and quarterback change, along with moves in free agency and selection in the NFL draft, should see a much different Raiders team in what will likely be a very competitive AFC West in 2025.

Las Vegas also plays the Browns, Giants and Bears because they all finished last in their respective divisions in 2024.
