Former Clemson cornerback Mario Goodrich has been let go by the New York Jets as part of the first wave of roster cuts before Tuesday’s 53-man deadline.

Goodrich joined the Jets earlier this month after being picked up off waivers from Denver, where he had signed in June. He recorded eight tackles during the preseason with New York. Before his stint with the Broncos and Jets, he played this spring in the UFL with the Birmingham Stallions, notching 17 tackles, six pass breakups and three forced fumbles over seven appearances.

The former Tiger has also had NFL stops with the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants since going undrafted in 2022. He saw action in four games for the Eagles last season, finishing with five tackles.

At Clemson, Goodrich had a standout four-year career that included All-America honors, first-team All-ACC recognition and MVP honors in the 2021 Cheez-It Bowl win to cap his senior season.

The Jets still have other Clemson ties on the roster, with Payton Page trying to earn a spot after flashing with a sack in the preseason finale, while John Simpson is locked in as a starter on the offensive line.
