“Since joining Sunday NFL Countdown in 2021, Smith has provided fans with steady, insightful analysis on all aspects of the game, with particular emphasis on the quarterback position, drawn from his prolific playing career,” wrote the ESPN Press Team in a statement. “His expertise shines through on a weekly basis as he taps into his wide-ranging NFL experience, which included playing for notable head coaches, dealing with high expectations, and a multitude of familiar playing scenarios.”
The Chiefs traded for Smith in the 2013 offseason, and Andy Reid named him the starter shortly after he took over as head coach. In five seasons as the starter in Kansas City, Smith won 50 games and threw for over 17,000 yards and 102 touchdowns against 33 interceptions.
Smith will continue his efficient analysis on ESPN throughout the upcoming season and the foreseeable future.
