Former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman believes the Patriots might have gotten the steal of the 2025 NFL draft with rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson.

It would be hard to argue against Edelman after watching the way Henderson has exploded onto the scene. He returned a kickoff for a 100-yard touchdown in the preseason opener against the Washington Commanders. The former Ohio State product also rushed for an eight-yard touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings.

His speed, catching abilities and pass protection skills make him a legitimate triple threat option at running back. He is the complete package.

“TreVeyon Henderson’s probably the steal of the draft… that’s the kind of guy you need to draft that becomes part of the nucleus with Drake [Maye],” Edelman said on Patriots Talk Podcast.

The Patriots are hopeful that Henderson can play a major role on offense for them right out of the gate. He might potentially even surpass Rhamondre Stevenson in reps. This wasn’t just another depth signing for the Patriots.

They may have gotten one of the best running backs in the entire NFL draft.
