Auburn football’s passing game is expected to take a giant step forward this season thanks to the addition of Georgia Tech transfer Eric Singleton.
Singleton led the Yellow Jackets in receiving over the last two seasons, totaling 1,468 yards and nine touchdowns. Now a member of the Auburn receiving corps, Singleton’s draft stock is expected to rise. Mike Renner of CBS Sports included Singleton in his ranking of NFL draft-eligible wide receivers ahead of the 2025 season, forecasting Singleton to be an early selection on day two of the draft.
Renner says that Singleton’s ability to find open space outweighs his lack of size.
Singleton spent his first two seasons at Georgia Tech where he went for over 700 yards in each season, but was somewhat tapped out by the quality of its passing attack. He’s the type of undersized receiver who was unthinkable 30 years ago, but is becoming indispensable in today’s NFL. The type of athlete who can consistently create space for himself 15+ yards down the field. It’s why his averaged depth of target has been a healthy 13.7 yards downfield for his career. Now at Auburn, Singleton joins one of the scariest receiving corps in all of college football.
Singleton has made himself a threat in many ways in his short college career, especially on short routes. Last season, Singleton caught 100% of his targeted passes (21-of-21) on catches made behind the line of scrimmage for 100 yards and a touchdown last season, and logged 16 catches on routes shorter than 10 yards for 178 yards and a touchdown.
Several mock drafts have Singleton going in the first round next year, including Fansided, which projects Singleton to land with the Denver Broncos at the No. 21 overall pick. Singleton will look to boost his draft stock this season while helping Auburn return to a winning season for the first time since 2020.
