The Cincinnati Bengals haven’t been satisfied with the safety position this offseason.

Those Bengals elected to run it back with Geno Stone and Jordan Battle in 2025 after last year’s debacle, but nobody has really stepped up while Stone has been dealing with an injury.

Daijahn Anthony appeared to suffer an injury in the preseason finale and both Tycen Anderson and PJ Jules aren’t roster locks if something else becomes available.

Here are a few options for the Bengals at safety available right now.

Shilo Sanders

The high-profile undrafted free agent just got cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Maybe he would’ve regardless, but the Bucs weren’t happy with him getting ejected in his team’s preseason finale. Even so, if the Bengals like his skill set and want to roll the dice, he’s available to claim.

Kyle Dugger

The former second-round pick earned a $58 million extension in New England but has been working with the second team under a new coaching staff. He’s only just back from an ankle injury and now the Patriots are shopping him, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Trading for Dugger could be costly in terms of trade price and cap hit ($15 million), but there’s an out built into his contract after 2025 if it doesn’t work out.

What it means…

So far, the options aren’t great for the Bengals. But after trusting that a new coaching presence will smooth out the uneven position, the team looks lost at safety, especially when it comes to the backups. But what the above does show is that, over the next 48 hours or so, some pretty interesting options could present themselves on the waiver wire, free agency, or even via trade.
