Baltimore Ravens rookie linebacker Teddye Buchanan looks good on game film and is affirming why the franchise selected him in the 2025 NFL Draft. In the team’s 31-13 victory over the Washington Commanders this past weekend, Buchanan finished the game with two tackles and a half-sack. Now, the trial era is over as the 2025 NFL regular season is set to begin, and Buchanan must prepare to be a pillar in defensive coordinator Zach Orr’s personnel.

With the 53-man roster cut deadline set for this Aug 26, there’s no reason anybody expects Buchanan not to make the final roster. Buchanan was drafted out of UCLA primarily because of his agility, ability to ball track, speed in pass coverage, and his sure tackling attributes.

Buchanan laid a bone-crushing hit on the Commanders’ wide receiver Luke McCaffrey in the 2nd quarter on Aug 23, on a possession that ended in a turnover on downs for the opposition. Between outside linebackers Mike Green, Trenton Simpson, and Buchanan, it is difficult to tell who Orr plans to take the majority of the reps with Smith and the starters. More than likely, Orr will deploy Buchanan and others interchangeably, deferring to situational football. For Buchanan, this may mean an opportunity to deploy in the blitz, or cover tight-ends and running backs out of the backfield. Ultimately, Buchanan’s skill set will be an immediate asset to the franchise this season.
