Could Carson Wentz become QB 2 for this NFL football team?

This NFL team just finished its preseason schedule Friday night, and they were met by Bismarck’s very own Carson Wentz Saturday morning to work out for the team, according to ESPN SportsCenter. More on that in a moment.

Carson Wentz was released by the Kansas City Chiefs back on March 1st of 2025.

This left the former star quarterback for Bismarck Century and North Dakota State without a team in 2025.

Although there was plenty of speculation about where Wentz would end up in 2025, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio and Chris Simms went as far as to say that Wentz could even have a chance to compete for a starting job in Cleveland. That never materialized.

Many speculated this could be it for the well-traveled QB in the NFL. I know Carson is a big hunter and probably wouldn’t mind spending his autumn hunting in his home state of North Dakota.

Bismarck Century’s and NDSU’s Carson Wentz spent the 2024-2025 season backing up Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City.

Kansas City would mean that Wentz would never see the field unless there was an injury. Carson did play in the final regular-season game of the year against Denver.

Carson Wentz was in Minneapolis on Saturday, working out for my favorite football team, the Minnesota Vikings.

2nd-year QB JJ McCarthy is locked in as QB 1, but with no regular-season experience in the NFL, many wondered if the Vikings might bring in a seasoned veteran to mentor him.

They did trade with Seattle for Sam Howell to potentially back up McCarthy, but Howell had an inconsistent training camp.

Could this mean Sam Howell is now on his way out, and Carson Wentz will be the Vikings’ new backup QB?

That’s EXACTLY what it means. According to an article on SI, the Minnesota Vikings just traded Sam Howell to the Philadelphia Eagles for a couple of draft picks and have signed Carson Wentz.

Carson Wentz in purple! I LOVE it. SKOL!
