With the preseason behind us, which Indianapolis Colts’ players graded out the best, according to PFF’s metrics, and which players received the lowest marks over the three games?
Below is a look at PFF’s grading system for some context. While this metric is very helpful when it comes to quantifying a player’s performance, PFF’s grading system isn’t the be-all and end-all either. It is one metric out of many that are out there.

Here is a look at the top five players on offense and defense, along with the bottom five on each side of the ball as well.
Colts‘ top five players on offense
TE Mo Alie-Cox (86.2) – only played four snaps
The top three players are Colts’ tight ends. As a group, this trio capitalized on their opportunities in the passing game, while also grading out well as blockers. Warren, in particular, looked like the real deal as a go-to target over the middle of the field while bringing an added physical presence to the position.
Tenuta may have secured a roster spot with his play at right tackle, and Owen was an extremely reliable target out of the slot.

TE Maximilian Mang (47.9)
Depending on Tyler Goodson’s availability, Herbert might find himself on the outside looking in when the 53-man roster is put together. Mitchell would catch 4-of-8 passes for 49 yards and was penalized twice. He had a very good summer overall in the training camp practices.
Colts’ top five players on defense
My guess is Bachie will see the bulk of the linebacker snaps next to Zaire Franklin come Week 1. Land may have earned himself a roster spot with his play in Cincinnati, as he was very disruptive as a pass rusher.
Johnson had a strong showing in the preseason opener, but based on playing time at cornerback in recent weeks, he could be left off the initial 53-man roster. Lammons is another on the roster bubble at cornerback, who impressed this preseason. He also has special teams experience, and that matters when these decisions are being made.

S Ladarius Tennison (44.6)
Brents played just 22 snaps in the preseason finale, so it is a small sample size. However, while I expect him to be on the final roster, I don’t know that he’s a roster lock either. With Womack, I think the cornerback room became too crowded with Brents and Jaylon Jones returning, along with the addition of Xavien Howard.
