Over the next two days, all 32 teams across the NFL, including the San Francisco 49ers, will be trimming down their respective rosters from 90 players down to 53 by Tuesday’s deadline.

San Francisco started their transactions Monday morning, placing offensive lineman Isaiah Prince on injured reserve, releasing running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn, waiving defensive end Jaylon Allen and defensive lineman Shakel Brown and waiving/injuring quarterbacks Carter Bradley and Tanner Mordecai.

Bradley and Mordecai both suffered injuries in San Francisco’s preseason finale against the Los Angeles Chargers. If they pass through waivers, they’ll revert back to the 49ers‘ injured reserve and miss the entire season. However, the players and team could come to a settlement when their healthy, giving them an opportunity to play again. This leaves Brock Purdy and Mac Jones as the only quarterbacks on the roster.

Vaughn, 28, was fighting for a depth spot on the roster after signing with San Francisco earlier this month. However, his 48 yards on 2.5 yards per carry weren’t enough to get it done. This move leaves Christian McCaffrey, Brian Robinson, Isaac Guerendo, Jordan James and Jeff Wilson at running back.

Brown, 26, just signed with the 49ers 10 days ago and wasn’t able to make much of an impact in such a short time.

Allen, 25, signed with San Francisco in late July after stints with the Denver Broncos and the UFL’s Memphis Showboats and Arlington Renegades. He was clearly near the back of the group, getting opportunities late in the preseason finale.

Prince, 28, landed with the 49ers at the beginning of the month and had been fighting for a depth tackle job on the roster or practice squad, but against the Chargers, he suffered a lower-body injury that looked rough. He’ll now miss the season, unless the two sides come to a settlement when he’s healthy.
