The Los Angeles Rams have made their first mildly surprising cut of 2025. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Rams are waiving second-year edge rusher Brennan Jackson.
Jackson was a fifth-round pick in the 2024 draft but played sparingly as a rookie and didn’t show enough in training camp and the preseason to earn a roster spot.

Last season, Jackson played seven games and had three total tackles. He did not have a sack, quarterback hit or tackle for a loss in the 47 defensive snaps he played. In the preseason, he had three sacks, but he didn’t win his rushes frequently enough, recording only three pressures on 63 pass-rush snaps.
With Jackson being waived, it’s expected that Nick Hampton will make the 53-man roster, especially after the Rams held him out of the final preseason game.
The Rams have now moved on from 12 total players, meaning they still have 25 players to cut before Tuesday’s deadline. The roster currently stands at 78 players with less than 24 hours to go.

Sean McVay said after Monday’s practice that the Rams know who will make the 53-man roster, but they have not yet released it.
“I do, yeah. Today’s practice it kind of confirmed,” he said. “This was the last physical evaluation that we had until we have to make cuts tomorrow. But yes, I do know what our 53 is going to be. ”
