Former Tennessee defensive lineman Omari Thomas signed with the Saints following not being selected in the 2025 NFL draft.
On Monday ahead of the NFL 53-man roster deadline, New Orleans waived Thomas and made additional roster moves.

According to New Orleans executive vice president and general manager Mickey Loomis, the Saints terminated the contract of running back Cam Akers. New Orleans also waived the following 13 players: punter James Burnip, wide receivers Roderick Daniels Jr. and Moochie Dixon, defensive ends Jasheen Davis, Jeremiah Martin and former Vol Thomas, tackles Josiah Ezirim and Jonathan Mendoza, tight ends Seth Green and Michael Jacobson, guards Kyle Hergel and Mike Panasiuk, and linebacker Tyreem Powell.
The 6-foot-4, 325-pound defensive lineman appeared in 61 games for the Vols from 2020-24. Thomas recorded 115 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, five sacks, 12 pass deflections, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and one block.
Thomas went to Tennessee from Briarcrest Christian School in Eads, Tennessee.
