Derrick Nnadi has been moved off the New York Jets roster ahead of roster cut-down day but not in the expected manner.

General manager Darren Mougey ended up turned Nnadi into something for his team by trading back to the team he came from.

Nnadi signed in New York earlier this offseason but had not made much of an impact. Instead of outright cutting him, Mougey managed to trade Nnadi back to the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of Tuesday’s roster cut-down day in the NFL.

In exchange for Nnadi and a conditional seventh-round pick in 2027, the Jets acquired a conditional sixth-round selection in 2027:

In terms of the player and draft picks, it doesn’t mean much.

However, the deal does put a bit of a positive light on Mougey.

The GM of the Jets is clearly willing and monitoring the trade market. It’s the third trade he has made over the past week after acquiring defensive tackles Jowon Briggs and Harrison Phillips in recent days.
