The Minnesota Vikings made another trade on Monday night as Kwesi Adofo-Mensah continues to show that he can revamp the team’s roster. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Vikings are sending cornerback Mekhi Blackmon to the Indianapolis Colts for a 2026 sixth-round draft pick.
Blackmon was coming off a torn ACL, and his status for the remainder of the 2025 season is murky. If he were to play, his effectiveness would be undetermined, but now he gets a fresh start with the Colts.
Just a year ago, the Vikings had as few as four draft picks heading into the 225 NFL Draft. The limited picks came after Kwesi Adofo-Mensah traded up twice in 2024 for quarterback J.J. McCarthy and edge rusher Dallas Turner. Now, after the latest trade involving Mekhi Blackmon, the team has a litany of picks in 2026.
Right now, the team has the following picks according to The Athletic’s Alec Lewis:
First Round PickSecond Round PickThird Round PickThird Round Pick (Projected Comp for Sam Darnold)Fourth Round Pick (Projected Comp for Daniel Jones)Fifth Round PickFifth Round Pick (via Philadelphia Eagles)Fifth Round Pick (Projected Comp for Cam Robinson)Sixth Round Pick (via Indianapolis Colts)Seventh Round PickSeventh Round Pick (via Houston Texans)
The total number of picks for the Vikings now sits at 11, with three on the second day of the draft, and seven on the third day of the annual NFL event. That is a lot of firepower for the Vikings to do a lot more moving in the draft, or even to trade for someone they think can tip the scales in their favor.
