A former Michigan State Spartan has been waived by the New Orleans Saints.

Former Spartans defensive lineman turned professional offensive lineman Mike Panasiuk has been waived as part of the Saints’ effort to cut down to their required roster limits for the upcoming regular season. Panasiuk was signed by the Saints a few weeks ago but will have a short stint with the organization.

Panasiuk has bounced around the NFL and UFL since his college days ended at Michigan State. He has primary served as a preseason camp attendee or practice squad player in the NFL, playing with the Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina Panthers, Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints. Within the UFL, he’s experienced a ton of success with the St. Louis Battlehawks, landing as a two-time All-UFL Team Offense selection.

Panasiuk played at Michigan State for four seasons from 2016 to 2019. He appeared in 51 games with the Spartans, recording 100 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, four sacks, two interceptions and one forced fumble.

It’ll be interesting to see if Panasiuk gets another crack in the NFL or if this is his final chance at making a roster. Hopefully, he’ll get the call again this fall if not around this time again next year.
