The Buffalo Bills focused heavily on the defensive side of the ball in the 2025 draft. Seven of their nine draft picks focused on that side of the ball. One of the high-profile rookies was TJ Sanders – the defensive tackle out of South Carolina.

Sanders was a borderline first round pick who fell to the 41st overall pick in Buffalo. The Bills are hoping he can fit well with the likes of Ed Oliver, their own prized tackle at this point going into the 2025 season and beyond.

Buffalo isn’t the only group high on the young Sanders.

Kyle Crabbs of the 33rd Team, believes that he could end up being an immediate help for the Bills defense as they look to finally get over the hump in the AFC Playoffs.

“As is, he’s an absolute savage rushing the passer who should bolster an NFL team’s sub-package rush group from the jump,” Crabbs said. “Sanders has played more than 150 snaps apiece in the A-gap and head-up over tackles, showing the ability to win from all kinds of angles thanks to his first step, lateral quickness, active hands, and ability to turn tight corners.”

There’s reason to believe Sanders can make an immediate impact. Buffalo’s current star along the line, Oliver, is double-teamed more than almost any other tackle in the sport.

That will leave plenty of one-on-ones for Sanders and others on the defense. Buffalo needed to find a tackle who could take advantage of that. They finally got that with Sanders.
