The Green Bay Packers are moving on from several Georgia Bulldogs after preseason action. The Packers already released former Georgia center Trey Hill. Now, Green Bay is releasing former Georgia wide receiver Mecole Hardman, who was on their roster bubble.

Hardman still has good speed and is just 27 years old, but he was unable to make the Packers’ 53-man roster. Green Bay has a deep receiving room that lacks elite talent.

Hardman caught the Kansas City Chiefs’ game-winning overtime touchdown in Super Bowl 58. He doesn’t have another receiving touchdown since then.

In 2024, Hardman posted 12 receptions for 90 yards and five rushes for 62 yards and one rushing touchdown with the Chiefs. He also added 20 punt returns for 203 yards and five kickoff returns for 132 yards in 12 games played.

The Chiefs could be a potential landing spot for Hardman since he is familiar with their system. Kansas City drafted Hardman in the second-round of the 2019 draft and is where he has won three Super Bowls.

Hardman had a tough preseason debut with Green Bay. He muffed a punt and dropped a pass on his only target in Week 1. Hardman finished the preseason with three receptions on eight targets for 30 yards. He also had a 14-yard rush.

Hardman’s speed and versatility as a return man give him a solid chance to land on an NFL roster. However, his production has significantly declined in recent seasons.
